FUNERAL OF A POPULAR BOY. The popular esteem in which the .late Edmund Albon was held, and the widespread sympathy extended to the bereaved relatiyes in the tragic circumstances surrounding his demise, was demonstrated by the very large attendance at the funeral last week. A congregation which taxed the accommodation assembled at the service held in the Methodist church and followed in the cortege to the Kaponga cemetery, where the burial took place. The Rev. C. H. Kendon officiated at both the church and the burial services. Six boy friends of the deceased —Sydney Blackwell and Drfvid Wilson representing the State school, Reginald Hill and Jack Tonkin representing the Methodist Bible Class, and Jeffery Noonan and George Pascoe representing the Boy Scouts —acted as pallbearers. The Kaponga troop of Boy Spouts, directed by Scoutmaster R. Moss, formed a funeral escort and led the procession, which also included a party of the Kaponga Girl Guides under Mrs. A. E. Moss and Miss M. Guy, as well as a group of seniors from the school. As. a tribute to the deceased’s memory, Mr. J. A. Guv of the firm of Messrs J. and A.’ Guy,' by ■whom the lad had been employed, drove the car which conveyed the" coffin to the cemetery. Aftef- the burial an imposing mass of beautiful wreaths piled high at the graveside bor e testimony to the very sincere feelings which marked the occasion. The ceremony, and the deeply regretted circumstances from which it resulted, will he long remembered fay district residents, who afforded such convincing evidence of their sympathy in the loss sustained by Mr., and Mrs Albon and family.
