ECHO OF CROPLEY CASE. ALDERMAN WALKER DEFEATED.. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. Received Dec. 2, 2.30 p.m SYDNEY, Dec.' 2. Labour is jubilant over the civic elections (referred to on page 5), and claims that it is a splendid augury for the success of the Labour Party at •-■he coming State elections. The Civic Reform Party attribute' defeat to vote splitting by the breakaways and Independents, all of whom were defeated; also to, the recent rearrangement of the boundaries of the wards. Alderman Walker, whose name was prominent in connection with the Cropley commission, was among those defeated, also Sir Charles Rosenthal.
