WHEAT YIELD

AUSTRALIA’S HARVEST. WELL ABOVE THE AVERAGE. EXAGGERATED REPORTS. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT Received Dec. 2, 10.30 a.m. . SYDNEY, Dec. 2. llie. Morning Herald’s special representative, after touring the central wheat areas, reports that the harvest, while not eclipsing the record, will be substantially above the average. He considers that many of the reports in regard to damage by hail, wind and the effects of disease have been considerably exaggerated. While disease was found m individual crops, there is no evidence to show it is widespread. Yields of ten bags an acre are quite common in Central and West Australia, while three leading crops in the championship competitions are estimated to yield .forty bushels per acre.
