BRIDE’S VOW TO OBEY RETAINED. LONDON, Nov. 26. The House of Clergy to-day by 100 to 69 votes defeated a proposal to omit the word “obey” from questions to the bride in the marriage service. A proposal to make the bride’s and bridegroom’s promises identical, except the substitution of the word “serve” for “obey” was at first declared defeated bv only 85 to 84 votes. A recount showed it was carried by 86 to 78. It was also agreed to substitute ‘ ‘With my body I thee honor’ ’ for “With my body I thee worship.” A proposal to change “With all my worldly nroods I thee endow” into “All my worldly goods with thee I share was defeated.
