PERSONAL ITEMS.
At the Trinity College practcal examinations, held at Stratford on Saturday, Miss Doris Meyrick (a pupil of the Convent at Stratford) gained her A.T.C.L.
Colonel R. J. Collins died at Wellington yesterday.- The deceased was for many years Secretary to the Treasury, and was the president of the New Zealand Rifle Association.
Mr J. Hoben, late of Messrs Halliwell, Spratt, Thomson and Horner’s, left yesterday for Wellington, where he has recently been appointed to an important position. Before leaving he was fare welled by the staff, who complimented him and wished him every success in his new position. Mr D. •J. Goodwin returned to Hawera this morning after an extensive trip through England, France, Italy and Switzerland. Mr Goodwin; who is looking well, expressed his delight at the trip generally, and spoke very highly of the prospects of ‘the Homeland.
