BUTTER SUPPLIES.

SHRINKAGE IN EMPIRE EXPORTS BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. Received Sept. 1, 10.10 a.m. LONDON, Aug 31. A serious shrinkage in the Empire supplies of butter is a feature of the. dairy produce* industry, according to Weddel’s Annual Review for the year ended June 30. The proportion of Empire supplies to the total imports of butter into the United Kingdom was 35 per cent, compared with 45 per cent, in 1922-23 and 52 per cent, in 1921-22. On the contrary, supplies of foreign butter have considerably increased. It is noteworthy that the shipments from Siberia, resumed after seven years, amounted to 2300 tons.—Reuter.
