BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT Received Sept. 1, 11.30 a.m. PEKING, Ayg. 31: Wu Pei Fu is reported to be taking precautionary measures against hostile action on the part of Chang Tso Lin, whose intentions are a subject of pro-, found interest in Peking, where, it is pointed .out, that a Feng Tien offensive would precipitate the biggest conflict in China since the revolution. C-hang Tso .Lin’is vast military preparations seem to have all been timed for completion next year, and the flooded country would make the present offensive in the north of China most difficult. On the other hand the danger of the elimination of Lu Yunghsiang may influence Chang Tso Lin- in favour of warfare this autumn. —'Reuter.
