LAND AND INCOME TAX

(By Telegraph.— Special to Star.) WELLINGTON, Sept. 1. The Prime Minister proposes to introduce this week the annual Bill assessing land and income tax and the amending measure affecting both taxes will follow about a week later. RAILWAY INVESTIGATION.

The members of the commission appointed to investigate New Zealand railway management and. equipment have almost completed a similar inquiry for the New South Wales Government, and are expected to reach New Zealand in a few weeks. Some indications have already been given that the Government will make concessions in freights, and it is understood that these will not be delayed until the commission reports. Cabinet is to decide as to what extent financially there can be readjustments in railway freights and fares, and having given this deemion, it will be for the administrative officers under the Minister’s authority to make the readjustment.
