RISING IN PORTUGAL
NIPPED IN THE BUD. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. Received Sept. 1, 9.35 a.m. LISBON, Aug. 31. An armed Communist rising was nipped in the bud. A body attacked the citadel, intending after capture to give a signal to confederates secreted in various parts of the city and start a general rising. The movement was supported by a number of sergeants in the garrison, but the officers and privates remained loyal. The attack was easily repulsed; and few shots were fired. Thirteen prisoners were taken.—Times. '
