BURGLARY.
MOTOR GARAGE ENTERED. SUM OF £56 TAKEN. A cash-box containing the sum of approximately £56 was stolen from the premises of Gibson’s Motors, Ltd:, Brougham Street, New Plymouth, in the early hours of yesterday morning. , On receiving a call at his private house about 3 o’clock yesterday morning, Mr. G. Gibson proceeded to the garage and left again without entering the office. When he returned later one of the windows of the office was open and the cash-box was missing. After a search had been made the box was found badly battered, lying among the rooks on the beach between the terminus Hotel and the municipal baths. Two men were sleeping above the garage at the time, but as they were off the premises on numerous occasions in answer to calls during the n -ifi and mor ning it is thought possible that the money was taken during their absence. The men heard no suspicious movements during the time they were at the garage. The police have the matter in hand, but so far no definite developments nave taken place.—News.
