HALF-YEARLY AIEETIXG. (BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) i WELLINGTON, Aug. 27. The half-yearly meeting of the Council of the New Zealand Society of Accountants was commenced to-dav. The following councillors were present: Alessrs C‘. A:I. Bowden (Wellington), president, in the chair; AY. E. Best (Christchurch), vice-president: A. M. Seaman, J. At. Elliffe. and W. J. A. Thomson (Auckland); P. Bar.r, G Patterson and J. Hogg (Otago) ; J. L. Griffin and Earnest W. Hunt (Wellington) : R. Davis (Wellington North) : A. O. Wilkinson -(Canterbury);- C Blackburn (Poverty Bay); AY. "McCulloch (Hawke’s Bay); H. Bailv (Taranaki) ; W. F. D. Revel 1 (South. Canterbury) ; F. A. V ebb (Southland); E. •L Harvey (Marlborough, Nelson, and AVestland). The question of the desirability of the representation of commercial interests in the Senate of the University of New Zealand was discussed. Oorlespondence between the Alinister and the AYellington Chamber of Commerce was read. It was apparent that- there was no immediate prospect of the Council’s representatins being given effect to. but the Alinister promised to give consideration to the matter in the event of a change in the constitution of the Senate.

It was resolved to transfer a sum. of £IOOO from the accumulated funds of the society to the credit of the benevolent fund capital account. The benevolent fund capital account, prior to this transfer stood at £2240!

A panel of examiners -was approved for submission to the Senate* of the University of New Zealand. Lengthy discussion took place on the question of the proposed alteration of districts and representation on the Council. It was ultimately decided net to recommend any alteration to the annual meeting. A number of applications for-the transfer of status from Association to Fellow were considered. The following ■•Moat.ions were approved for transfer from registered accountants to F.R A • Welling ton District. —T C Ward H A. Webster, H. J. Brown. - Wellington North District A E J Wccknll and O. H. Courteney. Transfers from A.P.A. (New Zealand) to F.P.A. (New Zealand) were granted as follows Auckland District H. CV-acknell; Taranaki District, C. I-I. AVynynrd.
