BUYERS UNITE.

TO KEEP DOWN PRICES.

COMPLAINT BY FARMERS,

(BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) CHRISTCHURCH, Aug. 28. At a meeting of the North Canterbury branch of the Farmers ’ Union a letter from the Oxford branch stated that the position connected with the sale of both veal and pork at the Addington market is unsatisfactory to producers. Instead of these ‘commodities being submitted to the competition of several butchers, it appears that in each case the butchers have combined and appointed a buyer, who buys for each and all, thereby eliminating competition and getting the stuff at his own price. The matter was referred to the dairy committee.
