PACIFIC NATIVES.
COUNTRY OF ORIGIN. INVESTIGATIONS BY DR. BROWN. 8Y CABLE—rRESH ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT Received Aug. 25, 10.45 a.m. . WASHINGTON, Aug. 23. A message from Seattle states that Dr. Macmillan Brown, Chancellor of the University of New Zealand, has returned there. He is studying the islands and stretches of the mainland on the North Pacific coast, with the object of investigating the origin of the natives of the Pacific Ocean and confirm the findings of Cook, Vancouver, Potlock, and other early explorers. He stated that he believed that because the coast Indians do not make pottery of grow cereals they came to America hundreds of years before the Indians. He declared that he found a close resemblance between the coast Indians, Hawaiians, and the Maoris of his own country.—Reuter.
