BRITISH TREATIES
IRELAND AND RUSSIA. VIEWS OF SIR JAMES CRAIG. 8Y CABLE —PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT LONDON, Aug. 22. Sir James Craig, speaking on the eve of his departure for a holiday, declared that nothing had occurred in the last few days to change the previous Ulster boundary policy. Despite the conclusion of the treaty, the British government has found it necessary to protest to the Soviet against the indignities suffered by Mr Hodgson, tlie British Charge d’Affaires in Moscow. His office is daily watched by spies and secret service men, who intercept visitors, especially Russians, and try to ascertain the reasons for theiV visits and the nature of the conversations held. M. Rakovsky has promised an investigation.—Reuter.
BOUNDARY COMMISSION. . ALOOFNESS OF ULSTER. Received Aug. 25, 8.5 a.m. LONDON, Aug 24. Lord Londonderry, speaking at’Stockton, said that Sir James Craig was ready now as always to discuss" with Mr. Cosgrave the rectification of the boundary on the basis of mutual give and take. Sir Robert Horne said that Ulster was coerced and turned against after repeated pledges by Messrs Asquith, Lloyd George, Bonar Law, and Baldwin, and it would create a situation which could easily end in civil war. After these pledges they could appreciate the unwillingness of Ulster to take the risk of sending a representative to a commission, whose judgment. Ulster would be bound to accept if she took part in the commission.—Aus-N.Z. Cable Assn
