CONCERT FROM CALIFORNIA. SPECIAL TEST ARRANGEMENT. Conditions for long-distance reception on Sunday evening Avere more favourable than has been the case for some time past. Consequently (says the Taranaki Herald) a great- many of New Plymouth’s “listeners-in” enjoyed sterling programme from station KGO at Oakland. California, ivhich Avas broadcasting orchestral, instrumental and A-ocal items. During the evening it Avas announced that a special .programme for the benefit of Australian, NeAV ZJe aland and Honolulu listeners would be broadcast on Saturday. August 30, commencing at 1 a.m. This Avill mean 8.30 p.m. on Sunday. August 31. here. The orchestral items from this station during the late hours are generally by Henry Halstead’s orchestra at the Hotel St. Francis. San Francisco, AA'hich is across the harbour from Oakland, the site of the actual broadcasting station. The music is relayed by a landline running along the bed of the harbour. It is quTte a common thing for Nc-aa - Plymouth amateurs to hear this station,'but of ate the static conditions ha\'e robbed listeners-in of many of its pleasures.
