HAWERA BOWLING CLUB.

ANNUAL SOCIAL. . Quite a. nice gathering of members of thsi above club as&siublctl at the Savoy Dining Rooms last evening for the, purpose of shoudng their appreciation of the many acts of kindness rendered to the club during the past season by their lady friends. The entertainment M - as in the form of a sccial evening, comprising progressive euchre, musical items, supper and dancing. All present- seemed to enter into the social spirit of the gathering, and appeared to get the full enjoyment associated until the evening’s outing. Prior to the commehcement, Mr S. Adamson (president) said he t-isned to extend to all present a hearty welcome especially visiting howlers. He said the members of the club felt it a duty on their part to in seme way try and compensate the ladies connected with the club for their great and valued asisstance throughout . the past year. He unshed to assure them that the members appreciated their efforts very much.

In the progressive euchre, the lady’s prize was won by Mrs Wyllie. and Mr Ruckrell won the gentleinaiVs. Mr McDonald’s orchestra. M-as present and played a number of items during th© euchre, and also feir the dancing. A very nice musical programme was put on, and the items Mere much enjoyed, encores being freely demanded. The folloMdng Mere the performers : Mr Lamb (song), Mrs Strange (recitation), Mr IVfcLeniian (song), Miss Jenkins (song), Mir Harvey (song), Mrs Robb (recitation), Miss Joll (pianoforte solo), Mrs G. Burgess (song). Mr J. Hall (recitation), Mr Cclclough (song), Mr Kent (song). Mrs Jenkins and Miss Joll played the acconipaniments. All joined in an excellent supper, alter which dancing whs indulged in until the small hours of the morning. In every way the function M-as a- pronounced success, -and the committee feel very gratified at- the success attained.
