The German mark is quoted at 19 biLlions to the sterling, compared with 19J on August 7. BRADFORD TOPS QUIET. LONDON, Aug. 14. Bradford tops arre quiet, but all grades are very firm. Quotations are unchanged. LONDON GRAIN MARKET. LONDON, Aug. 14. Wheat cargoes declined by fully 9d, owing to Argentine selling pressure. Parcels are in fair demand at 6d to 9d down. The spot trade is quiet and prices are easier all round. Australian ex ship is quoted at 57s 6d. Oats, peas arid beans are firm at late rates. Granulated sugar is quoted at 38s 10-kl. DAIRY PRODUCE. LATEST LONDON PRICES. RISE IN BUTTER. LONDON, Aug. If. The butter market is firm with a good demand. New Zealand choicest salted is quoted at 200 s to 202 s and Australian at 194 sto 1965. Unsalted buter is practically glared. The Danish price is 216 s and Siberian 160 s to 170 s. The cheese market is firm. New Zealand coloured is quoted at 92s and v.lute at 965. Australia coloured is bringing 88s to 90s. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report havinoleceived the following cablegram from their London house under date of the 13th inst. : Butter—Since our last report (dated Bth inst.) prices are 2s per cwt higher. Price for N.Z. salted is now 200 s exceptional brands 2025. 5 CANTERBURY MARKETS. (BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION ) . CHRISTCHURCH, Aug. 15. Business in the grain and produce trade has been practically at a -stand.still during the week, as it invariably is at Grand National time. The only exicepetion ;is potatoes. A : shortage has developed in Auckland on account of tue delay of consignments from Melbourne, and inquiries for ,small lots aie coming to hand freely from the northern city. The Navua, which was booked to sail io-morrow night from Lyttelton, will now leave on Monday and all her available snace, representmg probably up to 5000 sacks, has been filled. The Wingatui leaves later in the week, and space is being freely booked by her. Values locally have advanced by over 10s a ton as a result of the northern position, and £5 on trucks has been paid farmers. The 1 b ;' in, quotations are from to to £6 os. Growers are now offering more freely and showing a disposition to accept current quotations. xh€ chaff market is firm. Dunedin is again coming on the market, and sales nave been made there at a premium on the local parity. Values locally are about £7 on trucks. There is a‘good demand for seed wheat, hut as far as °* ts ar l concerned there is no seed to offer. There is some inquiry for cowgrass, but other seeds are quiet LONDON TALLOW MARKET. The Bank of New Zealand produce department has received the following advice from its London office under date 13th August: —< Tallow. There is a. good .demand. Current quotations: Good mutton, 45s . 46s per cwt; good beef and mixed, 45s to 46s per cwt; gut, 36s 6d to 40s per cwt. Tbe New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., have received the following cablegram from their London house under date 13th inst. : tallow. We quote present spot values for the following deserptions: Bine mutton, 47s per cwt; good beef, 16s per cwt; mixed, 40s per cwt Market active. . Dalgety and Cm, Ltd., report having received the following cablegram i°m their London house under date of the 13th mst. :—< 790 casks of tallow offered; .wo casks sold. Market is irregular. Since our last report pries are Is per cwt higher nominally, but low and inferior descriptions are practically unchanged. Prices realised at public auction to-day are: Mixed 46s 6u to ■Ls 3d, low mutton 39s 3d.
