DROUGHT BROKEN.
CROPS AND PASTURES BENEFIT. (BY TELEGRAPH —PREBS ASSOCIATION.) TIMARU, Aug. 15. Ihe long, dry spell, the worst for 30 years, was broken this morning bv a fall of 68 points of rain, which will do incalculable good to the cereal crops and pastures, but a great deal more is wanted. • have come through the winter fairly well, but in the absence of roots or other feed cattle fared very badly. At is anticipated that a large number will die of starvation before the spring feed comes.
