ATTEMPT TO' BURN SCHOOL, (by TELEGRAPH— PRESS ASSOCIATION.) BLENHEIM, Aug. 15. There was excitement'at Renwick today when dense clouds of smoke were seen issuing from the school house, and the cry of “fire” went round. The smoke was rising in all directions between the walls and it took a long time to locate the outbreak, which was finally discovered to be confined to the ventilation pipe, which had been stuffed full of paper and rubbish. No damage was done by the fire, but the school was somewhat , knocked about in endeavours to locate'the outbreak. It is stated that the rubbish had been deliberately placed in the pipe, and all indications pointed to an attempt to burn the school down.
