BURNT TO GROUND.

FACTORY DESTROYED. (by TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) INVERCARGILL, Aug. 15. The sugar of milk factory at Edendale, 28 miles north-east or Inversar•gill, was found to be on fire at 8.30, and was burnt to the ground. The fire was first noticed in the office, an dit spread . with alarming rapidity, soon demolishing the buildings which, with the plant, were valued at £BO,OOO. Much of the plant was recently erected. Fortunately there was no l wind and a. dairy factory alongside was undamaged. The blaze was visible for many miles around, there being quite a rush of farmers to the scene in cars. Only the boilers were saved, the factory being otherwise, completely destroyed. The insurances are said to total £4O - 000, but no details are yet available.’ The destruction of the factory will have a serious effect on the dairying industry as th© factory had just been renovated in preparation for* the new season.
