EGYPT
WORE OF AGITATORS. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION— COPYRIGHT (Received Aug. 16, 9.30 a.m.) LONDON, Aug. 15. The Cairo correspondent to the Times states that undoubtedly recent events in the Soudau were deliberately timed to coincide with the pourparlers for a meeting between Mr MacDonald and Zaghlul. The latter’s followers aimed at proving that the Soudanese supported Egypt’s contention that the Soudan wanted to rejoin Egypt. Egyptian agitators provided funds*for the agitators, some of whom openly boasted of the success of their efforts to stir up the Soudanese. These Egyptian agitators had practically a clear field, and yet almost the only peoplew ho responded were the rabble, who were always ready to fish in people who responded were the rabble, of immature student youths, who fell victims to the agitators. Otherwise the population of the Soudan holds aloof.—Times.
