DE LA SEACORD. The man known as De la Seaeord, whose arrest has been announced, is believed to have been known in Stratford (says the Taranaki Herald). About a fortnight ago a Charlie Chaplinesque looking individual called at the office of the Evening Post, stating that he wanted prices for considerable adver-tising—half-pages, page, a series of pages, amounting in all to about £SOO worth. So important a prospective client was referred to the proprietor, but enquiries as to w'hat the advertising would be about w r ere answ'ered in a rambling statement, and, although it was asked that advertising quotations be forwarded to a post office box, the Post did not care to do anything further in the matter. Last week the miin reappeared at the Evening Post office, and inserteef a small advertisement, in which, he offered to act as agent for people in the' baekbloeks. Apparently he then went to Inglew'ood. The name “De la Seaeord,” with the description “engineer,” was given on the second appearance at ' Stratford. Apparently it had been forgotten that on the first occasion the name given w'as (ap (latently the more correct one! A. C. J. Welsh. ■ - .The accused was brought before Mr H. R. Cattley, J.P. 7 in the New Plymouth Court yesterday morning, and on the application of the police he w’as remanded on all charges to. appear bef«re Mr A. M. Mowlem, S.M., on Phursday. No application' was made tor bail.
