INTERESTING STATEMENTS FROM AUSTRALIA. 3Y OABLB—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT Received June 25, 10.45 a.m. . SYDNEY, June 25. Referring to butter production at the annual conference of the Co-operative Dairy Managers’ and Secretaries’ Association, Mr. Chaffey said that the peak year was 1920-21, when the amount produced reached £95,000,000. Last year the total was £63,000,000. This year rt appeared likely to reach £65,000,000. He said that as this variation resulted largely from the amount of feed a-vail-aibse i * ,seemed that more attention «hould be given to feeding and the necessity for food conservation. Overproduction was the greatest myth ever pieached. The real trouble was underproduction. because it meant that they were unable to maintain their export trade.
The president (Mr. Stoner), in a review of the year, said that the lot of the dairy farmers during the last two years had been unenviable. There had been the most erratic sasons- ever ev perieued.
Mr. Madness (State- dairy expert) xf 1 - tlicit reports from London showed that New Zealand butter had none hack and New South Wales had come out on top.
