Wanganui, September 18.

The football match between Otago and Wanganui was played to-day in excellent weather, and resulted in an easy win for Otago by 26 points to 5. In the first spell, which ended with the score Otago 8 points to 5, the play was fairly even, but in the second half the Wanganui defence fell to pieces, and Otago ran up 18 points. The Wanganui forwards played a good game, but the Otago backs outplayed those of Wanganui. September 19 The Otago footballers, accompanied by the local men (30 in all) left this morning on a two days' trip up the Wanganui river.

At a meeting of delegates to the Hawke'a Bay Rugby Union held in Napier last night, a motion that the Hastings sub-Union and the Hawke's Bay Rugby Union amalgamate and form one body, wa3 not carried, Messrs G. F. Roach, A. C. Norris and A. C. Barnes were appointed a committee to arrange a competition on what is called a " knock out system, the winning team to receiye caps. It was decided to write to the Poverty Bay Union asking if arrangements could be made for a visit of a junior team to Gisborne before the end of the season.
