A curious Lacustrine Phenomenon has oceurreii at Castro Giovanni, in Central Sicily. Tne waters of the Lake of Perqu-sa have turned blood red; and the fi.h are floating dead on the surface. The inhabitantattribute the change to the effects of lightning. Castro G.ovauni ociupies the site ot the classical citv Ea.ia; and the mvthologica! tradition declares that it was from the side of this lake that Pluto carried off Proserpine.
