Rowing Notes.

[bt “ ootbiookb.”] As I anticipated, the final heat for the trial fours resulted in favor ot Green's team, who therefore win the event. The boats went up shortly alter 6.80, by which time a good number of spectators had collected. Miller's crew led off from the start, and maintained the lead for a short distance, •he other crew then came down and passed their rivals, and got a lead which they could have increased without much difficulty. The orew in the rear pulled their best, but Green's were able to do much better, and won by three lengths without great exertion. At the conclusion ot the race, together with the customary cheers, three cheers were given for Mr Ratcliffe, who has assisted the crews in the way oi " coach; ing." Next weak the Gisborne Club pick team* to row in the double-scull races for Dx Pollen’s cups. The contests take plsee at the end of January. The cups are now on view at Mr Good’s. After the double-skull matches have been decided, the crew to contest in the annual match with Napier will ba choten by th« Selection Committee, to go into training; After or previous to this match being decided the Poverty Bay Club may have a match with the Gisborne Club's reprasentativ* «raw. The members of the former Club are not doing much work this year, which is to bs regretted, because they can put a good team ou the water 11 they like.
