Hawkes Bay Education Board.

The following items of interest to Poverty Bay people are taken from the Napier News’ report of Education Board meetings : — A grant of £25 was made to Upper Patutahi residents in aid of the school they propose to erect. The Te Karaka committee wrote stating they could not accept £25 towards the cost of teacher’s cottage if the teacher’s house allowance were to be stopped.—A reply was sent that the grant could not be made except on such conditions. An application was read from Maunga-atua for eonvenienees omitted from contract, and for fencing.—Estimate to be asked for of fencing, conveniences to be paid for. Mr H. Shaw was appointed pupil teacher at Waerenga-a-hika. Messers G. H. Swan and H. Baker were declared elected to the vacant seats on the Board.
