THE IRISH QUESTION.
A BLOODIfIIBSTY COMBAT. ARREST OF O’BRIEN, London, September 18. A serious affray has taken place in County Clare. A party of Moonlighters attacked a force of police. During the fight a policeman was killed. Eight of the Moonlighters were arrested. Mr O'Brien was charged at Cork with in. citing tenants to resist the law. He was remanded; bail was refused. An animated debate took place in the House of Cummons last night, Messrs Glad, stone, Dillon, Labouohere and Sir Vernon Harcourt vehemently attacking the policy of the Government, which was defended by Mr. Balfour, the Secretary for Ireland. The Pall Mall Gazette refers to the present regime in Ireland as rivalling the Russian tyranny iu Poland, and as being opposed to ail feelings of liberty. There is a growing sympathy with the Gladstonians and many of those who previously were strong Ministerialists are wavering.
