The Otakeho Dairy Company’s cheese is now on the English market. Mr Milton, of Manaia, some few months ago purchased a ton or so, and sent it two a firm in Worcester, of which Mr Milton was until ,e--ce >tly a partner. The cheese is advertised at 6Jri, 7d, and 7Jd per lb., alongside American ~ cheese at 5Jd, and. is described ag “splendid ripe old checsi, equal to the finest Cheddar.” The Napier Telegraph says:—“ Wi Hutana the well-known Maori chief and local ‘sport,’ has, wc hear, become a Maori Mormon preacher, and has made up his mind to give up racing, consequently his stud is in the inmket. As racing is<>u the decline in the Wairarapa, Wi Hutana’s withdrawal from the turf will be much regretted.” Dr. Germes, formerly Superior of the Marist congregation at Pagnon, was consecrated Roman Catholic Bishop of Christchurch, N.Z., on July 26, at ths chuich of the Marist fathers, Spitalfields, London. .
