The Borough Election.
Owino no doubt to the great interest taken In the Native election, and other disturbing influences, there was very little excitement in town on Thursday concerning the fight for Municipal honours. The polling ceased at six p.m., and shortly after eight the Returning Officer announced the result as follows I— C. Luoas -, .. 266 W. Morgan .. ~ 228 H. Lewis ~ 917 J, H. Stubbs .. .. X7B A. Taylor .. -- 154 The three successful candidates briefly addressed the ratepayers who were present, and everything pacsed off very quietly. Last year’s polling was E. P. Joyce, 283 ;J. 0. Dunlop, 270; J. Whinray, 267; W. Morgan, 266; Joseph Creaawell, 111.
