A little boy aged about eight years had an extraordinary escape from death at Maidstone a short time since. He was flying a large kite on an open space in the west end of the town, when stepping backwards he fell into a quarry 40ft. deep, to the horror of some persons walking close by at the time. Fortunately for the little fellow the string of his kite was around his wrist, and so instead of being dashed to pieces he escaped with a few bruises, being in reality more frightened than hurt. The kite acted as a parachute and effectually broke the force ot the boy’s fall.
