What our legislators Have Done.
THE BUSINESS OF THE SESSION. The annual statement of the business of the session was laid on the table of the House on Monday last. It shows that eighteen Acts passed both Houses, including one private and two local Acts. Eighty-two public Bills originated in the House, of which 71 were dropped, and six in the Council, The number of local Bills introduced was 2i and of private members’ Bills 28. The Acts passed were as follow;— Public Acts.—Banks and Bankers Act Amendment, Cambridge and Hastings Boroughs, Chattel Securities Act 1882 Amendment, Counties Act Amendment, Electoral Acts Amendment, Infants Guardianship and Contracts, Interpretation Act Amendment, |Kermadec Islands, Mining Act 1886 Amendment (No. 2), Post Office Act 2881 Amendment, Public Revenues Representation, Ward Conservation of Rights, Westland and Grey Education Boards Act Continuance ; private Act —Wellington Gas Company (Limited) Extension; local Acts—Reclamation within the Harbor of Wellington, Sydenham Borough Council Empowering. The number of petitions presented was 178, of which 36 were from Maoris. The House sat for 193 hours 15 minutes in 27 days, the average therefore being 7 hours 9 minutes.
