Quebec Man Charged With Blowing Up Airliner to Kill Wife
(Rec. 10.0). OTTAWA, October 4.
Mrs Arthur Pitre testified before a Quebec Court to-day that he had bought dynamite for Albert Guay, who is charged with killing his wife by blowing up an airliner whereon she was a passenger on September 9. Mrs Pitre is the key witness against Guay. She said that she bought the dynamite in August at his request. On September 9, she said, he gave her a parcel to take to the Quebec airport. Sh e said that, after the airliner crashed killing all of the 23 people aboard, Guay told her that the police were looking for a mysterious woman who took a parcel to the airport. He advised her to disappear, and to leave a note saying that she was dead. Earlier to-day, the Court heard Lucien Garreau testify that Guay had offered her five hundred dollars if he would poison Mrs Guay. Garreau said that he had refused, and Guay then offered him fifty dollars to “keep his mouth shut”.
S. C. Lynn, a chemical engineer, said that, from an analysis of bits of the wreckage of the airliner, it was obvious that there had been a dynamite explosion. Lucille Levesque, of the Canadian Pacific Airlines, said that she sold Guay a ticket for his wife and also a ten thousand dollars flight insurance policy, with himself as the beneficiary.
