Tory Speculation on Rush Election
LONDON, October 3
The suspicion among the Parliamentary Opposition that the Labour Government may spring a general election on Britain without warning was quickened tonight by reports in London Conservative evening newspapers.
These pointed out that Parliament —at present adjourned for the summer recess until October 18—need not be summoned in order to be dissolved. They recalled that 27 years ago, in the late Mr Lloyd George’s Ministry, Parliament was dissolved by Royal proclamation during the adjournment of both Houses-.
