Bus Services
(To The Editor) Sir.—ln reply to “Bus Drivers’ Wife’’, I would like to ask: While the timetables or bus drivers are at sixes and sevens on the 10.30 departure issue, what are the prospects of getting the theatres to commence their programmes at 7.45? All out-of-town buses leave the theatre after the shows with the exception of the Grey Valley. Why not these, too, instead of a mad rush to a bus stop away up the street? As one who left the theatre and joined in the usual race, I can say that a watch was checked with the post office clock and the last bus according to both left a minute and a-half early. Another bus left the stand empty and ran to the garage to await the mid-night run, with a full load left behind. The hard part is that punctuality of many of the departures to and from the Grey Valley, with the exception of this 10.30 p.m. one, is sadly lacking. How many times have patrons of these runs been left standing at the stop while a bus does a run to another suburb and returns to a cold and fed up load of passengers upwards of half an hour late? I would say that we only want the same treatment as the rest of Greymouth and the surrounding districts, and if the bus operators and drivers can become unanimous we will be only too willing to say: Good luck boys. I am, etc., SAME SERVICE FOR ALL, Dobson.
