ARREST MADE IN KIDNAPPING CASE
A Young Manufacturer MELBOURNE. Oct. 4
The police are concentrating on important clues concerning his kidnappers given by Solomon Ravdell, who is recovering from his four days’ ordeal at the hands of his captors.
It is now believed that he was held ; n a house in an eastern coastal resort 30 or 40 miles from Melbourne. Mr Ravdell bases his information on the sounds he heard while captive n the house.
Detectives believe the kidnappers are still in Victoria. They are satisfied that the men are foreigners, but have not been able to establish their nationality. (Rec 10.5) MELBOURNE, Oct 4.
Arising out of the kidnapping of Solomon Ravdell last week, detectives to-day arrested Benjamin Gelbart, and, after six and a half hours of questioning ,they charged him on live counts, with demanding money by menaces; unlawful wounding; conspiracy to defraud; being armed with a knife when arrested to-day; and with assault. Gelbart was remanded on bail until Monday next. Gelbart is aged 29 years. He is a manufacturer.
