HOKITIKA NOTES

{Our Own Correspondent) Greymouth Operatic Society concluded a successful two nights season with “The Geisha” at Hokitika, . on Wednesday evening. Mr D. Friedlander (chairman of the Progress League) thanked the Society for giving Hokitika people the opportunity of seeing the production. Mr L. McGlashan, the producer acknowledged the appreciation. With an improvement in sea and weather conditions the launch, Cascade, sailed for Okuru on Thursday afternoon. Mr J. P. Hogarth, of Greymouth, has been appointed referee for the Dittman Shield match at Hokitika, to-morrow. The Rugby Union withheld consent for an inter-union fourth grade cur-tain-raiser. The curtain-raiser will probably be St Mary’s v. Excelsiors. Hokitika School Rugby teams on Thursday played Marist school teams at Greymouth, winning by 12 to 3 in one one game and 9 to 5 in the other. All the teams provided an excellent display.
