REEFTON NOTES

(Our Own Correspondent). REEFTON, February 26

t Mr Blair and party have arrived to take over the open cast mine at Garvey’s Creek. A large bulldozer is preparing the place. It is expected that coal will be procured in a short time. In addition, a ten-wheel truck lias also arrived to take the coal to Reefton, where it will be loaded at the loading ramp. ■ Mr and Mrs T. Dellaca, senr., have left on an extended holiday in the North Island.

The Garvey’s Creek mine was idle last week owing to the flood damage. A wash-out at Watson’s, on the main road, made it impassable for traffic. The Hon. C. F. Skinner, Minister of Rehabilitation, was a visitor to Reefton last week.

Mr M. Mitchell, who had been visiting Greymouth, has returned.
