SHARK STALKS YOUTH AT SYDNEY BEACH

(Rec. 9.5) SYDNEY, Feb. 27, A Grey Nurse shark, twelve feet long, threw a youth off a surf ski at Newport beach, and then cruised round him for ten minutes while the youth clung to the overturned ski and beat the shark off with his paddle. The shark surfaced under the ski, tossing it into the air. Surf club members : immediately called all surfers from the watei' with a siren. Club members, on skis, attempted a rescue, but they were swept off by heavy seas. Finally, one member reached the youth and brought him in unharmed.
