Mr J. Mcßride arrived by Saturday’s express from Christchurch, on transfer to the Labour and Employment Department, Greymcuth.

Miss Ma’-qare: Mcßride, of the M.O. and S.B. Chief Post Office, Palmerston North, is visiting her parents. Mr and Mrs M. J. Mcßride, Murray Street.

The Rev. Father T. Foley, formerly parish priest at Runanga, is at present relieving in that parish, pending a permanent appointment occasioned by the death of Rev. Father J. McMonagle.

The funeral of Mrs Sarah Elizabeth Winter took place at the Karoro cemetery on Saturday morning. Services at the residence of Mr F. Rowse Karoro, and at the graveside were conducted by the Rev. B. D. Jamieson, of Ahaura.

To-morrow Mr George C. Seers, managing Director of General Motors, New Zealand, Wellington, and Mr L. C. Arnott, his executive assistant, are sailing from Auckland in the R.M.S. Aorangi for a business visit to various General Motors Organisations in North America and Great Britain. Mr Harlow W. Gage, manager of the Vehicles Department of General Motors, New Zealand, Limited, will act as managing director during Mr Seers’ absence.

The death has occurred of Mr Thomas Smitherain, formerly of Runanga, at Wankie in Southern Rhodesia. He left for South Africa 13 years ago, after having resided for 13 ‘years at Runanga. Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Mrs Nicholson, of Johannesburg. Mr I. Kitchin, of Runanga, is a stepson.
