CORRESPONDENCE

(To The Editor)-

Your reporter appears to have misunderstood me when he reported that I found myself in agreement with the engineer, when the latter reported that he did not favour any further extension of the stop-bank at the Waitangi River. If my memory is correct, when the engineer made that statement, he continued that in future he would recommend that stopbanks be given protection, and I was pleased that so young an engineer had realised this and I supported that view. I have always pleaded that those settlers below the stop-bank be given protection. I am etc., T.C. O’NEIL. TE TAHO.
