VISIT OF N.S.W. MINISTER
IMPRESSED BY N.Z. FARMING P.A. WELLINGTON, June 14. The value of the interchange of Departmental agricultural officers to the farming industries of Australia and New Zealand was referred to by the New South Wales Minister of Agriculture, Hon. Mr. E. H. Graham, replying to a welcome extended him at a gathering in his honour in the Cabinet room at Parliament Buildings to-day. He also praised the fertility of farming districts which he had visited in the North Island and the up-to-date methods adopted, and the general efficiency of New Zealand farmers.
The Prime Minister, Mr. Fraser, extended a warm welcome to Mr. Graham, who said that Australia and Now Zealand l?ad identical problems facing them, and it was vital that the two countries should work together in the closest co-operation.
Mr. Graham said that the carrying capacity of the New Zealand farming districts had been a revelation to him. Australia was dong its best to assist New Zealand with wheat supplies it needed. Efforts were being made in . Australia to stabilise the wheat industry over a period of years. If there were to be stability in the primary industries then it was necessary to stabilise the prices so that the producers could plan ahead.
