NINE HORSES. FALL. CHAMPION VICTORIAN “LEPPER” KILLED. (Rec. 11.0). MELBOURNE, July 1. Nine horses out of sixteen came to grief in the Commonwealth Steeplechase at Moonee Valley yesterday, One, Zalmon, the favourite for the Grand National Hurdle race, broke his neck. He was killed instantly. Zalmon won the Grand National Hurdle race last winter. He was one of Victoria’s most colourful jumpers.
