REPLIES TO QUESTIONS WELLINGTON, June 28.

The first working sitting of the House of Representatives began today. The formal business included a fair number of notices of questions, as well as urgent questions to Ministers. An Imprest Supply Bill was introduced. Questions asked before the debate commenced included a number of topical interest. Replying to an urgent question by Mr W. Sullivan (Nat., Bay of Plenty) regarding cement supplies. The Minister of Supply (Hon. D. G. Sullivan) pointed out that the recent bad weather’ had interfered with cement production by delaying coal supplies to the cement works. Future supplies of cement would depend on the weather conditions on the Coast. Replying to an urgent question by Mr Sutherland (Nat., Hauraki) Hon. W. Nash gave an assurance that consideration would be given to the increasing of the preferential allocation of State houses to returned servicemen from fifty per cent, to seventy-five per cent.
