The well-known Auckland and New Zealand Rugby football representative, Captain R. G. Bush, who has been a prisoner of war since 1942, has arrived in England. A cablegram to this effect has been received by his parents, Mr and Mrs G. Bush, of Stanley Bay.

Brigadier R. C. Queree, C.8.E., New Zealand Artillery, is appointed Commander of the Artillery of the Second New Zealand Division, vice Temp/ Colonel G. I. O. Stewart, D. 5.0., who has been appointed Commanding Officer of the New Zealand Field Regiment with his permanent rank of Lieutenant-Colonel.

Miss M. Tyson, who’ is to be married shortly, was met-last evening by members of the Runanga R.S.A., and was the. recipient of a suitable gift. The presentation was made by the President, Mr Geo. English, who, on behalf of members, expressed best wishes for future happiness.

At the Nelson Competitions, Mr. W. Richmond (Runanga) won the tenor solo with 80 points, four points ahead of the second competitor. Audrey Nott (Greymouth) won the character dance, 12 years and over, and was second in the classical dance, the eastern dance (barefoot) and the character story dance. Shona McAra, aged 10, daughter of Mi- and Mrs. S. McAra, Greymouth, had much success at the Nelson Competitions, Competing in nine events for the class under 12 years, she secured first place in five events and second place in the remaining four.
