LEAGUE FOOTBALL

WEST COAST EXECUTIVE MEETING. Mr B. F. Connors presided at the weekly meeting of the Management Committee of the West Coast RugbyLeague, when the following were present: Messrs J. Griffen, P. Sweetman, J. Stokes, W. Meates, J. Anisy, C.. Stone, L. Hunter, J. Oakley, N. Messenger and T. F'. McKenzie (secretary). Apologies for absence were received from Rev. Bro. Fabian and Mr B. Ramsay. B. R. Smith was re-classified from junior to third grade, on the application of the Blackball Club. The Editor of the Auckland “Rugby League Gazette” wrote asking for Rugby League news for insertion in the new publication “Sports Parade”. The matter was left in the hands of the Publicity Committee. The Blackball junior team was granted permission to travel to Auckland to. play the Otahuhu Club on August 4. Kohinoor Club forwarded £1 Is affiliation fee for the season. Members expressed appreciation of the fact that all clubs had paid their fees for the season. Blackball Club advised that they had been notified that the Huntly team would play 7 a selected team at Wingham Park on June 4, the King's Birthday. The referee of the Marist-Blackball match reported that he had ordered W. Kirk from the field for reckless kicking, and that he had cautioned P. Mountford and D. Kirk for a similar offence. After full discussion, it was decided that W. Kirk be stood down for one playing Sunday, and that P. Mountford and D. Kirk be cautioned. As the one-round competitions had been finished, the following teams were declared winners of the various grades- Senior: Blackball. Junior: Blackball. Third grade: Runanga. Fourth grade: Brunner. Mr J. Stokes presented a comprehensive report on the conference held in Wellington recently, and the report was received, and Mr Stokes was accorded a vote of thanks. It was reported that a representative schoolboys’ team of the South Auckland district was contemplating a visit to the West Coast, and the; secretary was instructed to obtain further particulars. August 4 was accepted as the date for the match, West Coast v. Auckland, to be played on Carlaw Park, and August 5 for the match against South Auckland, to be played at Huntly' 1 . It was resolved to write to the Wellington and Canterbury Leagues enquiring as to the possibilities of playing matches in their centres on the return trip from Auckland. In view of the match to be played against Huntly on June 4, and the pending Northern tour, it was decided to ask the senior selectors to attend the next meeting of the League so that they may' be fully' acquainted with the programme. The following fixtures were drawn up for Sunday:— ~ „ Senior: Ngahere v. Blackball, at Ngahere, 2.45 (J. Griffen); Manst v. Kohinoor, at Wingham Park, 2.45 (b. McGirl 1 ; Brunner v. Runanga, at Brunner, 2.45 (P. Sweetirftin). Junior: Blackball v. Brunner, at Blackball, 2.45 (J. Williams); Manst v. Runanga, at Wingham Park No. 2, 2.45 (J. Quinn); Kumara v. Kohinoor, at Kumara, 2.30 (H. Bassett). Third grade: Brunner v. Runanga, at Brunner, 1.30 (W. Kerr); Blackball a bye. Fourth grade: Marist v. Runanga, at Wingham Park No. 1, 1.30 (W. Moore); Blackball v. Kohinoor, at Blackball, 1.30 (A. Kennedy); Brunner a bye.
