BRUNNER NOTES

[Our Own Correspondent.] Mr. P. Ryan has returned to 'the district to reside. Messrs E. Lav/son, E. White, and F. Gage of Dobson, have entered camp. Mr. E. Wick of Dobson, has entered camp for a fortnight’s military training. Mr. Rk Buckmian, of Taylorville, left for camps yesterday. Mr. and Mrs. C. Blanche and family, left on Saturday for Nelson. Pte. A. Davies is at present home on leave. The local mines have decided to work the two' back Saturdays between now and Xmas. The Communist Party conducted a very successful rubber drive in the district on Saturday. Mr. W. Batey is coming out of 'the hospital next week and is starting in business as an art dealer. Pte. J. Menzies is returning home, suffering from shell shock. Sgt. A. Tykey has been wounded In the Middle East.

A send off and presentation was held in the Taylorville pavilion on Saturday evening for Mr. and Mrs. J. Fender, who are going to Christchurch to live'. Mr. W. Carse, of Dobson,; made a presentation, to Mrs. Pender, and Mr. T. Morgan one to Mr. Pender. The tables of ine supper room were very tastefully decorated, and a delightful sit-uown supper was enjoyed by everyone.
