EIRE BOMBING

German Reply HINTS AT BRITAIN BERLIN, January 7. A communique issued announced that the Government is prepared to apologise and make compensation, if investigation proves that a German plane dropped bombs in Ireland on the night of January 1. The communique added that the bomb-dropping on Dublin on January 2 could not have been carried out by a German plane, but “strong suspicion” exists that the bombs were of British origin. The Eire Charge d’Affaires in Berlin, Mr William Warnock, earlier called on the German Foreign Office and handed in a protest to Herr von Rentlen against the recent bombings in Eire. Herr von Rentlen stated Germany was investigating.
