Coldest for 40 Years FRENCH ESTIMATE LYONS, January 7. Tire meteorological observatory reports that December in France was the coldest for 40 years. SPANISH DAMAGE HURRICANE AND SNOW MADRID, January 7. There is almost no telephonic communication with the outside world. Frost has killed 60 per cent, of crops in the Province of Castlellon. An icy hurricane and gales ravaged the orange and olive crops in eastern Spain. Several cargo vessels and trawlers have been lost.
