BIGGER QUOTA

FOR THIRD ECHELON. COAST’S INCREASED DRAFT. CHRISTCHURCH March 12. An increase of 591 in’ the quota of the South Island for recruits for the 3rd Echelon of the 2nd New Zealand Expeditionary Force has been made, according to information received from military headquarters yesterday. It was stated that the extra number of recruits would provide additional reinforcements for the echelon.

The increased number of recruits required in the various areas is as follows:—Area 9, Nelson, Marlborough, and Westland, 125; area 10, Canterbury, 201; area 11, Otago, 140; area 12 Southland, 125.
